The main thing you can do with PowerCryptor is encrypt data – files or text. There are a few other things you can do with the same application: securely delete files and generate a list of secure passwords. So if you want a tool to encrypt data, securely delete data, and generate passwords, you’re well advised to get PowerCryptor.

Speaking about getting PowerCryptor, getting the application’s installer will take but a moment since it weighs in at less than 12MB. When you run this installer, a setup wizard will show up and invite you to pick one of two installation methods: Typical (all default features are installed) or Custom (pick and choose what features will be installed).

Three components make up PowerCryptor:
PowerCryptot – encrypt and decrypt files, securely delete files, turn a file into a password-protected executable, turn a file into a password protected archive.
Text Encrypt – type in something or open a text file then encrypt it; easily decrypt the encrypted text.
Password Generator – generate secure passwords based on your specifications. You can select the length of the password and what elements it will contain.

PowerCryptor is free to use for a trial period of 30 days. A prompt will remind you of this fact every time you open the application.

With PowerCryptor you can encrypt files, encrypt text, create password-protected executables and archives, securely delete files, and generate passwords.

Pros

You can pick between a Typical and a Custom installation; installing PowerCryptor will take little of your time. The application’s interface is very easy to figure out. Use PowerCryptor to encrypt and decrypt files, encrypt and decrypt text, generate passwords, securely delete files. There are several encryption methods to choose from. Generate a single password or a whole batch of passwords.

Cons

30-day trial; nag screen.
